EXCELLENT Based on 456 reviews Posted on Tripadvisor 600SUZANNEMarch 16, 2026Verified Fabulous safari experience where we were made to feel so welcome. What an absolutely wonderful holiday! We booked this on an impulse after meeting Ivan of Gorillas and Safaris at a holiday show in London, meeting him on the 1st February and flying out with our two grown up daughters (24 & 22) on the 20th - not as completely mad as it sounds, we wanted to beat the rainy season. Ivan created a fabulous schedule for us (we perhaps wrongly opted not to see the gorillas this time) and we were just filled with wonder every day at the array of animals, birds and scenery. Our accommodation was always a joy to arrive at and we were fed so grandly and generously. Our guide was Robert and we had the best time with him over our two week stay, I don't think that we would have seen so much, learnt so much or laughed so much without him. Robert was just so knowledgeable and made sure that we always got the very best experience everywhere we went. Uganda was a great country to visit and offered us a cost effective safari experience.Posted on Tripadvisor THAIBISCUSFebruary 25, 2026Verified We fought like a lion/lioness to keep this booking. We haven’t gone on our holiday yet but have been planning it since 2025. We had to cancel our April trip last year and now we are going June 2026. We want to thank Ivan for his incredible patience with our booking. Booking from Australia has not been easy. Through it all Ivan gave us hope it will work out. Now we can relax knowing we have nearly paid for the entire trip and have got one of our precious bookings back. Giraffe Manor. (Long involved banking fiasco!) Thank you. Thank you Ivan. See you in June. Gayle and ChristianPosted on Tripadvisor JECR2009February 5, 2026Verified See Gorillas and Wildlife with Gorillas and Wildlife Safaris! We just finished a 5-day trip in Uganda with Gorilla and Wildlife Safaris, and everything was wonderful. Ivan, the owner, was great to work with during the planning. He answered all our questions clearly and was very patient, and always professional. Our guide, Robert, was also excellent. He was calm, organized, and easy to travel with. We never felt rushed. He was flexible and paid attention to our needs, which made the trip relaxed and enjoyable. We never had to worry about what was happening next. We saw gorillas up-close-and-personal, and many other animals. We highly recommend Gorilla and Wildlife Safaris and, in fact, have booked them for a second safari in Tanzania!Posted on Tripadvisor 590KATHERINEBJanuary 22, 2026Verified GOING BACK In 1958 I went with my parents to live in Uganda and lived in Jinja and Tororo. After a wonderful childhood in Uganda we eventually returned to England. So when a big Birthday arrived I had to go back (with my husband this time). We were not disappointed. From the moment we were collected by our wonderful driver Abraham the trip was pure joy. We drove for miles but it didn't feel like it. We saw endless game on the way, tracked white rhinos, felt the magic of Murchison Falls and the Nile and stayed in wonderful lodges in beautiful places. Then the sheer joy of the chimpanzees and finally the trek upwards to meet at last with a family of gorillas. What a humbling experience to at last come 'face to face' with these truly wonderful creatures. We would like to thank Ivan and his team for exceptional organisation of our trip, the wonderful staff who danced and sang for me at breakfast on the 17 December, Abraham for our swahili conversations , answering our endless questions and reminding me of the smiling and gentle nature of the wonderful Ugandan people. Thank you all so much - like elephants we shall never forget.Posted on Tripadvisor MEDAS2005January 13, 2026Verified Everything that you might see in Africa. We started a 16 day around the country safari with Abraham as our driver. We saw rhinos at Ziwa, herds in Kidepo, all of the apes you would expect and finally finished with a couple of days in Lake Mboro National Park. It was an incredible trip. Loved the herds of animals we saw in Kidepo with not another human being to be seen. We had wonderful accomodations everywhere we went.Posted on Tripadvisor GREGJanuary 10, 2026Verified First Class Tour operation We have just completed an 8-day trip around Uganda with Gorilla and Wildlife Safaris, and it was exceptional from start to finish. Ivan, the owner, was outstanding in the planning stage... patient, responsive, and completely transparent. Every question was answered clearly, nothing was oversold, and the itinerary delivered exactly what was promised (and more). You immediately feel you are dealing with someone honest and deeply knowledgeable about Uganda. Our guide, Richard, was equally brilliant. Calm, professional, and incredibly attentive, he looked after us at every step. Long drives were handled smoothly, timings were sensible, and nothing ever felt rushed. He was thoughtful, flexible, and clearly cared about our comfort and experience, not just the schedule. Accommodation choices were excellent throughout... clean, safe, well-located, with hot water and good food... and every transfer, permit, and activity was seamlessly organised. We never once felt stressed or unsure about what was happening next; we were simply looked after. This was a complex itinerary involving multiple regions, long distances, and major highlights (including gorillas), yet it felt relaxed and well-paced. That is entirely down to the quality of planning and guiding. If you are looking for a trustworthy, professional, and genuinely caring safari company in Uganda, we cannot recommend Gorilla and Wildlife Safaris highly enough. Ivan and Richard are first-class, and we would not hesitate to book with them again. Klasse!Posted on Tripadvisor TOM_JAC509November 2, 2025Verified Our Extraordinary Primate Safari We just finished a customize 6 day safari throughout the national parks of Rwanda with Gorillasandwildlifesafaris. It included chimp, gorilla, and golden monkey treks. The experience was completely outstanding surpassing our highest expectations. Everyday was filled with “wow moments.” Rwanda was absolutely beautiful. The lodging was wonderful. The people were so friendly. Ivan, the company’s owner, was so good in helping us customize the perfect trip. And most of all, our driver and guide Richard, with his knowledge, expertise, and wonderful spirit, was all anyone could hope for. We would tell anyone, if you’re looking for a local, African company for a Safari in East Africa, you must look at Gorillasandwildsafaris.Posted on Tripadvisor COLEOctober 14, 2025Verified Once in a lifetime trip thanks to Richard and Ivan We had an amazing time on our 12 day safari thanks to Richard (our guide) and would highly recommend booking through Gorillas and Wildlife safaris if considering a trip to Uganda. There is so much to see in this country. It really was a trip of a lifetime thanks to Ivan and Richard! Ivan, who did all the booking and organizing, was very responsive to emails and questions. I think we went through 9 different itinerary versions until we settled on something. Another company I reached out to had just told us that some activities (like visiting the pangolin centre or Ride 4 a Woman) were not possible with their trekking suggestions. Ivan on the other hand was happy to move our itinerary around to fit in these excursions. He was also very flexible when pricing out different options if you are trying to work within a budget. Despite me sometimes being slow with some of the payments, Ivan was never pressuring. Furthermore, he confirmed their license numbers with us and our trekking permit numbers once they booked them after our first deposit which reassured us we were booking with a reputable company. During our trip our guide was Richard. He is immensely kind and quite funny. He has astounding knowledge of animals as well as the different communities we drove through. No question was too small or too stupid for Richard. He chose great lunch spots and they were often ones that were designed to support the community which we really appreciated. He also was always on top of letting them know about allergies and even food preferences in advance. Our trip was very memorable and much of this was thanks to Richard. Before each day he would give us the itinerary, dress code, and check in if we had any questions. He also would check-in with us regarding what we thought of activities or if we had any concerns. He was able to navigate changes in the itinerary and when one of us was feeling under the weather (not any fault of the trip or food etc.) he coordinated a stop at a local hospital! The vehicle was always clean and had bottle water (cold and room temperature)stocked. He took the time to make sure we had the right supplies for trekking before we left Entebbe and our gaiters got cleaned after our treks. He was great about keeping us on schedule despite our tendencies to run late. While we didn’t do many game drives with Richard as most of our trip was trekking gorillas/chimps, he found lots of animals during our short time in Queen Elizabeth and Mburo. It was a group of myself and my parents, so we stayed mostly in triple rooms. Most of the lodges were suggested to us by Ivan and were a mix of mid-range and luxury. All of them were great. Our favorite places were Chameleon hill lodge, Isunga lodge, Ride 4 a Woman, and Buffalo Safari. Ivan had originally suggested staying at the Community lodge in Buhoma, but I really wanted to stay at Ride for a Women, so he booked that for us instead. We really enjoyed our stay there and would recommend anyone interested in specifically supporting women to ask to stay there. I think the place we enjoyed the least was the Ichumbi Kisoro Hotel. However, there aren’t many options by Mgahinga unless you stay further away and staying close to the park is totally worth it…I would not want to be coming from further away if there was any rain or bad conditions. Despite this being an amazing company I would still recommend doing some of your own research on what you want to do. When chatting with other visitors (from a variety of tour companies) sometimes we would mention what activities we were doing and people had no idea that they were even options. The prebuilt itineraries are a great start, but there were a bunch of activities I found through researching I would’ve never known to ask about including unless I did the research. For example, Chameleon hill lodge offers their own really authentic community activities, so I requested we spend an extra day there to do some of these which we really enjoyed. I also wouldn’t have known to schedule time to visit the pangolin centre or the gorilla and public health research center without my own research. However, Richard was very familiar with all the activities we did, so they must organize these for other guests. Perhaps it would be good if they make a survey for you to fill out when designing you trip including all the different kinds of activities you can do while visiting the country, so then you can select which ones you are interested in and they can recommend how to fit them in with the other plans you are thinking . For example if you select horseback riding they then know to let you know about staying in Mburo, or if you are interested in a cooking class they can recommend doing one at ride for a woman or staying at chameleon hill (or wherever else offers one along your journey). I emailed Ivan with a pretty good idea of what we wanted to do, so we could have missed the normal brainstorming period where they recommend activities. For those considering different itineraries. It was totally worth the extra time to visit Mgahinga for one of our gorilla treks (we did two in total - one in Bwindi and one in Mgahinga) and to visit the golden monkeys. We enjoyed comparing the environment and gorillas between the two parks. We also did two chimp treks - one in Kibble (habituation) and one in Kyambura gorge. I know there is a big debate to do habituation or regular trek. We really enjoyed the habituation. The chimps were up in the trees for quite a bit, but it also made for cool sightings as they were fighting over a monkey one had caught. It also felt like they were observing us as much as we were observing them which was kinda cool. Talking to others that had done a regular trek the chimps were much more on the ground and it wasn’t too crowded despite the larger groups. However, that could’ve also been luck on their part- hard to know. I think in an ideal world you would just do two (or more) treks at Kibale. We also really enjoyed doing the gorge hike as there are only 8 permits available for trekking each morning and afternoon (so groups can’t really fuse together like they do in Kibale). In the gorge there is a much lower chance of seeing the chimps, but we all agreed we would’ve liked it even if we didn’t see the chimps as the gorge itself is very beautiful. One of the only changes I would make to our itinerary is instead of driving from from Buhoma to Kisoro you can hike through Bwindi and have your guide pick you up on the other side to go to Kisoro. In summary, we had an amazing time. Richard was a great guide and we couldn’t have asked for anyone better during our time there. Highly recommend picking Gorillas and Wildlife Safaris!
