Uganda is generally safe for tourists. You can freely walk the city and village streets and you will not hve any danger to you in Uganda.
Use common sense in the cities – do not carry large amounts of cash or valuables, and keep money and credit cards in an inside pocket.
The best thing you can do is get your immunizations, buy malaria treatment drugs in Uganda as they are much cheaper, there is more selection. You can also take antimalarials which will lower your chances of getting it but not eliminate all risks. Bring $100 bills for exchanging into cash– smaller denominations get less of a return. You will love your stay. Kampala is a bit crazy with cars and congestion but as you get out and about you will see so much to love.
